This project is jointly conducted by the Research Organization of Information and System (ROIS) and the National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU). Our goal is to foster a safe, equitable and diverse research environment at academic and research institution across Japan, including the various national and inter university research institutes that compromise ROIS and NIHU. Over the past 2 years, we have led an initiative to investigate effective gender equality policies and practices. The reports we are preparing are to be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. The important part of our survey is the Athena SWAN (Scientific Women’s Academic Network) Charter which is regarded as one of the most successful schemes for promoting gender equality in higher education and research organizations. We would appreciate it if we could share survey results and experience with you to help promote diversity for Japan’s academic community
